The ICRS 2012 Photographic Competition, proudly sponsored by Olympus, is now open to all ICRS 2012 registered participants. Here is your opportunity to showcase your photographic skills and be in with a chance to win fantastic underwater photographic gear from Olympus.

  • The finalists will be judged by professional photographers and marine scientists.
  • First, 2nd and 3rd place getters in each of six categories will be displayed in the Delegate Lounge at the Cairns Convention Centre, 8 – 13 July 2012.
  • The winners for each of the six categories will be announced and awarded their prize at the Banquet, Thursday 12 July 2012.
  • The closing date for entries into the ICRS 2012 Photographic Competition is Friday 30 March 2012.
  • Contestants may enter up to three (3) photos total.

Images must be 5 megapixels and saved as .jpg files. Files should be named according to the following format.

Your Surname, First Name, Category Acronym, country where your image was taken .JPG

The category acronyms apply to the category that you are submitting your photo to and are:

  1. Scientific Image (SI)
  2. Macro (M)
  3. Wide-Angle Underwater Reef Scape (WA)
  4. Animal Portrait (AP)
  5. Animal Behaviour (AB)
  6. People and the Reef (PR)

Example: John Smith wants to enter 3 images into the competition. The first image is in the Macro category and was taken in Guam, and the 2nd and 3rd images are in the People and the Reef category, taken in the Solomon Islands and Malaysia respectively. Therefore, John would name his images as follows:

Smith, John, M, Guam.jpg

Smith, John, PR1, Solomon Islands.jpg

Smith, John, PR2, Malaysia.jpg

Lastly, before entering, please read and accept the Rules of the ICRS 2012 Photographic Competition.
